Special Systems Designer
An engineering firm is in need of a Senior Special Systems Designer for their New York office! This is a hybrid role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform Special Systems Design and Engineering work.
- Manage Special Systems Projects and Project Teams as necessary
- Assist in identifying business development opportunities.
- Mentor and develop staff at all levels.
- Ensure accuracy of finished product designs, reviewing for completeness, conflict avoidance, and that clients’ objectives are being met throughout life cycle.
- Support the Operations Manager to ensure high standards of quality, innovative design strategies, and to enhance the technical expertise of all studio staff.
- Support the Operations Manager to optimize the utilization of the studio staff.
- Ensure projects are within scope, on schedule, and within budget.
- Support the Operations Manager to recruit new staff, recommend staff for promotion and rate increases, oversee performance evaluations, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Adjust and correlate data, recognizing and addressing discrepancies.
- Support the generation of proposals and presentations, providing appropriate data and information and ensuring specifications’ accuracy.
- Ensures accuracy in meeting applicable billing codes.
- Participate in projects during design, bidding and construction administration.
- Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates for submissions.
- Interface with existing clients, outside consultants, and vendors.
- Attend client meetings to discuss job progress.
- Ensure all production adheres to company quality standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 4 years progressive experience.
- Aviation industry design/engineering experience.
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineering licensure (P.E.) preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of design-to-completion engineering processes.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and design packages.
- Thorough knowledge of Company standards.
- Thorough knowledge of QA/QC.
- Exceptional communications skills.
- Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients and vendor
