Technology Design Engineer

We are looking for a Technology Design Engineer to work on Telecom, AV & Security technology projects. The Design Engineer will work with clients, manufacturers, design team members and others to prepare construction documentation for each project. Experience should include drafting, designing, preparing specifications, and evaluating bid responses for telecommunications and security trades.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a liaison between architects, clients, consultants, and project managers from multiple trades to identify and implement cabling infrastructure for each individual project.
• Verify proper installation of all technology during project construction phase.
• Make determinations on project construction budgets, review bid documents, and oversee project bidding and project administration phase.
• Make vendor recommendations.

REQUIREMENTS

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Minimum 7 years professional experience in designing and drawing AV and security systems.
• Knowledge of AV and security systems including but not limited to flow diagrams, rack elevations and logical diagrams.
• Hands-on experience creating AV plans, engineering schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure including cable plant (horizontal & backbone), telecommunication room design, and pathways.
• Familiarity with AV, Security and BICSI standards required.
• Experience with CAD & BIM software including AutoCAD & REVIT.
• CTS-Certified Technology Specialist, RCDD, and architectural drafting background are a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
